Sr. Program Manager

Leading and advancing social justice work is challenging. That is why we at LeadersTrust work alongside changemakers to help them build the organization that will help their vision thrive.

We believe that when leaders are resourced and supported, their radical imagination can have transformative impacts. That’s why we partner with foundations and their grantees to invest deeply in the people at the heart of social justice organizations. Our support is responsive, grounded in relationships and shaped by each organization’s vision of success.

Today we, alongside our sister organizations Resilience Initiative, ResourceWell, and Social Justice Knowledge Commons, partner with over 150 organizations and nine foundations. Together we are building a more loving, sustainable, and just world.

We have an open position!

The LeadersTrust is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join our program team. This is a role for someone who loves holding relationships with care and keeping complex work moving.

The Sr. Program Manager leads day-to-day management of Multi-Year Accompaniment portfolios, builds relationships with the organizations in those portfolios, partners with a network of 40+ Capacity Coaches, and serves as a trusted point of connection for our foundation partners. You’ll also help shape where our programs go next: co-designing pilots, surfacing what we’re learning, and mentoring teammates along the way.

This is a highly collaborative, matrixed role that reports to a Sr. Program Director and works closely with the full LeadersTrust team.

What you’ll do

  • Support nonprofit partners by managing two funder portfolios of organizations (and co-leading one or two more), ensuring each partner gets responsive,
high-quality support that fits their unique needs.
  • Partner with Capacity Coaches by matching them with grantee partners, offering thought partnership, and supporting new coaches as they join the work.
  • Build lasting funder relationships so our accompaniment work meets foundation partners’ goals with transparency and mutual accountability.
  • Design and improve programs alongside funders and teammates, from new pilots to proposals, budgets, and reporting.
  • Capture and share learning that helps The LeadersTrust keep growing and evolving.

How we work together

At The LeadersTrust, how we do the work matters as much as what we do. Everyone on our team is supported and assessed on shared ways of working: collaborating generously, communicating directly and with care, following through on commitments, bringing an equity lens to everyday decisions, deepening expertise, and supporting one another’s growth.

We hold these expectations for one another, and The LeadersTrust holds itself accountable for giving every staff member the tools, training, and support to thrive.

What you’ll bring

  • 5–7 years of experience as internal staff or an external consultant helping nonprofits strengthen their impact through leadership development and capacity building (a mix of nonprofit senior leadership and consulting is especially welcome)
  • A track record of managing layered, multi-stakeholder projects from start to finish
  • Deep experience providing organizational and leadership development support to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color–led and –centered organizations
  • Experience partnering with, managing, and supporting seasoned consultants
  • Clear, warm communication across a wide range of partners, both written and verbal
  • Experience advancing intersectional racial equity within organizations and/or movements
  • Comfort in an intermediary role. Balancing the priorities of funders and grantee partners at the same time
  • Energy for joining a growing, evolving organization and helping build it

We’d especially love to hear from you if you bring connections to and/or lived experience with BIPOC and transgender-centered or led communities; experience in movement contexts such as worker rights, gender and reproductive justice, or environmental justice; or a deep understanding of networks and coalitions.
